Individual school boards in Nova Scotia filled out a separate survey (Appendix 3).  Most of the school districts do not have Mi'kmaw language courses available in schools in their jurisdictions.  The Cape Breton District School Board has Mi'kmaw language instruction available in four of the schools in their area.

      Holy Angels High and Sydney Academy each have a Mi'kmaw language course available as an elective for native and non-native students and taught by a fluent teacher.  Sherwood Junior High, a high-tech school has a fluent Mi'kmaw language teacher who teaches native and non-native students.  The Elementary students who attend St. Anthony Daniel also in Sydney, have a full-time Mi'kmaw language/studies teacher.  There too, natives and non-natives take the course.  Most of all the children are from the nearby First Nation community of Membertou.
